Jay Wilson called meeting to order.

Roger reported there is money in the checking account.

Thanks to Rick Saar for organizing the banquet, Jay Wilson for leading the program and Elaine Brown for getting the door prizes. Steve Sears presented Rhett Henderson with the Harold Sears Memorial award. Denita VanWyk received the woman's division Big Buck award for her deer. The men's award is still waiting on scoring on the other deer ranks. As usual, Ned Greer took home the Bowhunter of the Year award.

 

Turkey seminar Saturday, March 15th, 1:00 pm at Hitchcock. Call the Nature Center if you plan to attend 712-545-3283. Weather permitting, after the seminar the rest of the targets will be picked up. Plan to meet at the shed at 3:00 pm to pick up targets and sort targets for the March 30th shoot.

 

3-D shoot February 24 had 105 shooters. Discussion on shoot. Motion made, seconded and carried to start using only 3 shooting stakes in order to help simplify set-up. Orange - MBR, MBO. Green - Hunter, Trad, Youth, FC, MBF, MSR. White - Cubs, Peewee. More score cards will need to be ordered. Will continue to score the 11 ring and rules will be included on the reverse side. Competitive fees $12 and non-competitive $10.

 

Discussion on range organization. To try and organize and be more efficient for the range set-up and take-down, four members have volunteered to be range leaders for the next shoot. Please let one of them know if you will be able to help with set-up on Saturday, take-down on Sunday or even available both days.

Meet at HyVee North 16th 7:30 am for breakfast or at the range at 8:30 am.

Lunch will be provided at the range after targets are done.

 

Discussion on the condition of targets. Building needs to be organized and old targets removed. Elaine asked for donation of a few smaller targets to be used at the Becoming an Outdoors Woman program. She and Karen use them for the archery program and the targets at the Education Center are not in very good shape. The club will soon need some new targets. Motion made, seconded and carried to purchase 6 target for $600. They are right here in town so there is no shipping expense. Those 6 should make enough good targets for the March 30th shoot. After that shoot will need to get a good inventory and get more targets ordered so they will arrive before the July shoot. Jay had price sheets and the cost has really risen. Before the next shoot hope to design and build sturdy bow holders.

 

Two of the target butts at Hitchcock need to be repaired or replaced. We have been asked about putting targets at Botna Bend similar to what was done at the Narrows. Need to discuss with park personnel and club members

 

Is there any interest in a club shirt order? Jay & Karen did a great job on the IBA clothing and their contact is in Altantic.
